In Sleep Scientist, Matt Walker’s TED Talk “Sleep Is Your Superpower”, he claims that sleep is our life support system and nature’s best effort at immortality.

In a series of studies, Walker shares the wonderfully good things that happen when we get sleep, as well as, the alarmingly bad things that happen when we don’t.

We learned that sleep impacts your brain, your learning, memory, immune system and even genetic code. In fact, it seems that a lack of sleep has adverse effects on every aspect of the body and mind.

As sleep now competes with so many other forms of entertainment such as Netflix shows or our smartphones, we are eating into one of our most basic sources of wellbeing, from both a mental and physical perspective.

Walker goes onto state that:

“The decimation of sleep is having a catastrophic effect on our health, our wellness, even the safety and education of our children. It’s a silent sleep loss epidemic. It’s fast becoming one of the greatest challenges we face in the 21st century.”

He continues:

“It is time to reclaim our right to a full night’s sleep. In doing so we can be reinvigorated with the most powerful elixir of life. The Swiss army knife of health.”

We understand that there are many factors that contribute to a good night’s sleep, but a major element is comfort. One of the many benefits of linen is its temperature regulating properties, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter; bringing you comfort all year round. As a fabric, it also gets softer with every wear making it an ideal fabric to sleep in.

So, add a pair of Loom Irish Linen pyjamas to your list of essentials for sleep and be on your way to making it a superpower.
